Therapy to fit the needs of children and families

Services and Rates

I am considered an out of network provider and do not take insurance at this time. I can provide a superbill upon request. I am in compliance with the No Surprise Act and will provide you with a Good Faith Estimate of your fee. The Estimate will reflect the cost of the services you requested during our consultation call. Further estimates will be provided upon request.

Initial Appointment: 50 mins | $50

Not every therapist will fit the needs of your specific child, adolescent, or family. Your initial appointment will be a reduced rate of $50 to see if we are a good fit. My hope is that this reduced rate will help you and your family take the first step towards growth and healing, and won’t feel like such a financial loss if the first session doesn’t fit your needs for whatever reason. If we aren’t a good fit, I have several wonderful referrals that I would be happy to share with you.
All sessions after the first initial $50 session will be at the full rate listed below.

Individual Therapy: 50 mins | $120

Individual therapy can be helpful for kids and teens 5-18 years old experiencing:

  • Feelings of Anxiety and Depression

  • Negative thought patterns

  • Difficulties processing uncomfortable emotions related to grief, trauma, and other upsetting events

  • Challenges understanding emotions and how to regulate them

  • Challenges communicating with others

  • Feelings of low self-esteem and self-worth.

With children, therapy often looks like play. Children learn about themselves and the world through play, and process many of their thoughts and feelings in this way. Therapeutic play can be a way for children to explore their relationships, feelings, the way they communicate, and the way they get needs met.

Older children, or teens, may not engage in play in the “childlike” sense, but play is very much a part of their life (joking around with friends, engaging in behaviors that may appear “young” or immature etc). Sometimes this transition can be hard as they figure out and learn about the different parts of themselves in emerging adolescence. Individual therapy can help teens understand themselves and the world around them in an empowering and validating way.

Individual therapy may also include sessions spent with one parent or caregiver as a way to offer support, process difficult challenges within the family system, and identify the parent’s own challenges as they navigate the many ups and downs of caring for children, teens, and their families. Psychoeducation can often be a large part of parent individual sessions. Psychoeducation will be used to increase parent’s understanding of various developmental stages and developmentally appropriate behaviors that may often cause feelings of anger and frustration for the parent.

I do not currently take on individual adult clients, but work with adults in the capacity of being a parent or caregiver, and working through challenges that may arise due to being in this role.

Family Therapy: 50 mins | $145

I greatly value the role of parents and caregivers in the therapeutic process. Usually emotional and behavioral challenges are not isolated to the child or adolescent alone, and can often be further perpetuated by family systems, patterns, and roles that are no longer serving the overall family unit.

During family sessions a focus will be on members effectively expressing and communicating their needs, thoughts, and feelings to one another. My role during family sessions will focus on identifying challenges in communication patterns, reframing thoughts and ideas, and helping individuals use perspective taking to better understand the thoughts and needs of one another.

Family therapy can be helpful in addressing challenges in communication, unhelpful family roles, and identifying, setting, and maintaining appropriate expectations, and boundaries within the home. During family sessions, the expectation is that everyone will have a voice, which can be helpful for children, teens, and even parents, that often don’t feel heard.

I do not conduct couples or marriage counseling, but work with adults in the capacity of being a caregiver. My role in family therapy, or working with adults, is to assist parents and caregivers in becoming more unified as a way to best fit their child or family’s needs.

Parent-Child Interaction Therapy:
45-60 mins | $160

Parent-Child Interaction therapy, or PCIT, is a short term evidenced based treatment model for children ages 2-7 with behaviors that can be challenging to manage. During the first part of PCIT, I will coach parents and caregivers in learning a certain set of therapeutic play skills to help manage behavior with positive attention only. This increases feelings of warmth and strengthens overall attachment between children and caregivers. During the second part of PCIT, I will coach parents and caregivers in learning how to manage undesired behaviors in a consistent, effective, and appropriate way.

*Currently PCIT is virtual only

Benefits of PCIT:

  • Increased and strengthened attachment between parents and children

  • Decrease in attention seeking behaviors from the child

  • Decrease in aggressive behaviors from the child

  • Reduced frequency and duration of tantrum like behaviors

  • More positive interactions between parents and children

  • Increased confidence for parents in their ability to manage undesired behaviors in appropriate ways

  • Parents learn how to set limits and boundaries in a consistent way

Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
50-60 mins | $160

Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, or TF-CBT, is a short term evidenced based treatment model for children and adolescents ages 3-18 years old. TF-CBT follows a set of components that allow children and parents to explore and learn about their specified trauma, emotions, and negative thought patterns related to trauma, which facilitates growth and healing from traumatic experiences. Trauma impacts several areas of our lives, and can show up in many different ways including: challenges with emotional regulation, behavioral challenges, nightmares, depression, anxiety, and other symptoms of PTSD. Parents often struggle with how to understand their child’s trauma, and often experience feelings of shame and guilt as a result. TF-CBT provides space for children to tell their story, and allows parents and caregivers the opportunity to support, and validate these life experiences.

*I am trained in TF-CBT, and currently working towards certification.
